Neoteric Ensemble

I am also delighted to be the newest member of Neoteric Ensemble - a unique and dynamic sextet of brass and saxophones. I first performed with the group in April 2025 and I absolutely loved the innovative repertoire and great energy of the ensemble, so it was a very easy ‘yes’ when they invited me to join as an official member!

JAM on the Marsh - Barry Mills’ Trumpet Concerto

On Saturday 5 July I performed the World Premiere of Barry Mills’ Trumpet Concerto - alongside Britten Sinfonia - at JAM on the Marsh festival. This work was written for me in 2020 and, in 2022, I recorded it with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic. However, it had not yet received a live performance so I was very pleased when JAM decided to programme it this year, conducted by Artistic Director, John Fredrick Hudson (right).

Recordings

Over the past week, I’ve been busy with some exciting recording projects. The first of these was with organist Rachel Mahon, Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral. Rachel and I worked with the fantastic team from World of Sound (who engineered my album) to record three pieces for trumpet and organ.

Yesterday, I joined composer Pete Walton (above) at St John’s, Upper Norwood to record a new solo trumpet piece which Pete has written for me. I’ll be performing the live premiere at my Wimbledon International Music Festival recital in November and I can’t wait to share yesterday’s video later this year.

Finally, I’ll be spending a day at the Yehudi Menuhin School next week to record Christoph Schönberger’s new Sonatina for Trumpet and Piano alongside Richard Uttley. This recording will also be released on YouTube in the coming months, so do subscribe to my channel to be notified about these releases & more!

LSO Prom (Royal Albert Hall)

On Tuesday 19 August (7.30pm), I’ll be performing at the BBC Proms with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano. In the first half of the Prom will be Strauss’ Symphonic Fantasy Die Frau ohne Schatten and the second half will be a concert performance (with surtitles) of Puccini’s one-act opera, Suor Angelica. We’ll also be performing this programme and more during the previous week at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Britten Sinfonia Prom (Bristol Beacon)

I am so looking forward to playing in Britten Sinfonia’s Prom at Bristol Beacon on Saturday 23 August (5.30pm). Our programme includes music by Sibelius, Arvo Pärt, Gavin Higgins and Mozart (Symphony No.39), conducted by Tess Jackson. This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and we’ll be giving another performance at Snape Maltings on Wednesday 27 August (7.30pm).
