LSO Tour - Europe

I am currently in the middle of a patch of work with the London Symphony Orchestra, spanning 10 weeks from August to October. So far, we’ve spent a sunny week at the Edinburgh Festival, a few days touring Italy (Milan, Turin, Stresa, Verona), and concerts in London, Paris and Luxembourg. In the coming 10 days we’ll be travelling to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Belgium and Germany, culminating with two nights at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. I’ve been playing Principal Trumpet in Britten’s Violin Concerto with soloist Janine Jansen, and a particular highlight of this patch has been performing Copland’s brass-tastic Symphony No.3 (featuring his famous Fanfare for the Common Man).

Masterclasses & Mentorship

October brings a number of opportunities to work with young trumpeters. On Friday 10 October I’ll be giving a masterclass and recital to the trumpet students at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. This is my second visit to RBC, and I’m looking forward to following up with the students’ progress. On 13 October I will be the guest performer at Westminster School’s annual Brass Day, and on 14 October I will lead a performance class at the Royal College of Music. Finally, on 28 & 29 October, I’m excited to be one of the tutors on the GALSI course (taking place at the RCM), working with young, female & non-binary brass players in a wonderfully inspiring and encouraging setting.

Recital - Wimbledon International Music Festival

Remember, remember the 5th of November… and come to my recital! I’ll be performing an afternoon concert (2.30pm) alongside my great friend Patrick Milne (piano) for the Wimbledon International Music Festival. Our programme - I Got Rhythm - comprises works by British and American composers, including the World Premiere of Fragments 3 by Peter Walton. For those not able to make this concert, we’ll be performing a very similar programme at St John’s Church, Churt (GU10 2HX), on Sunday 2 November, 11.30am.

New arrival: December!

For anyone who doesn’t yet know this news, I’m very excited to announce that my husband Rupert and I are expecting our first child - a baby boy - in December. I will be taking a break from trumpet playing for the first few months of 2026, and plan to be back in action by the summer. I’ll be sure to update you once the baby arrives before pausing my newsletter schedule for a while. As you can see below, I’ve still got a busy couple of months to go (alongside a current building project at home), but I promise to eventually put my feet up and enjoy some downtime soon!!
