I am currently performing as Principal Trumpet with English National Opera for their production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. It’s a brilliant show and the famous ‘Queen of the Night’ aria is sung by world-class soprano Rainelle Krause. The orchestra is actually raised up out of the pit and on view the whole time, so it’s been great fun to be able to watch the action on stage! In January I was invited to lead a class for trumpet students at the Royal College of Music. We worked on unaccompanied solo repertoire and discussed recital programming, audition advice and memorisation techniques. During my time studying at music college, I wasn’t offered input from any professional female trumpeters, so this felt like an important opportunity and another step forward for the visibility of female role models in music institutions.

LSO European Tour

In April I will be joining the London Symphony Orchestra for a tour with conductor Antonio Pappano and soloists Janine Jansen, Alison Balsom and Martha Argerich. Repertoire includes Rachmaninoff Symphony No.2, Ravel Daphnis et Chloé, and I will be playing Principal Trumpet in pieces by Boulanger, Barber and Schumann. Dodgson Trumpet Concerto - Barnes

On Saturday 23rd March I will be performing Stephen Dodgson’s Trumpet Concerto in the finale concert of the Barnes Music Festival. Stephen wrote this concerto for me in 2011 and it was actually the last piece he wrote before he died. I am delighted that the concerto will be featured alongside pieces by other notable ‘Legends of Barnes’ including Roxanna Panufnik and Howard Goodall.

Trumpet & Organ Recital - Leamington

On Monday 6th May I will be performing a recital for the Leamington Music Festival alongside organist (and my cousin!) Oliver Hancock. This year’s festival is championing music by Czech composers, so our concert features works by Dvořák, Hummel, Eben and Smetana.
