Solo Recording - Britten Sinfonia

In mid-August I spent a day at All Saints’ East Finchley, recording music for trumpet and flugelhorn alongside my brilliant colleagues from Britten Sinfonia. We recorded works by Stephen Dodgson, Peter Maxwell Davies and Roxanna Panufnik, conducted by my great friend Patrick Milne. I worked with the fantastic engineering team from World of Sound and the audiovisual recordings we created will be released on YouTube/audio streaming services in the coming months. BRITTEN SINFONIA RECORDING

Sally Beamish - CD Recording

In early September I was honoured to be invited by eminent composer Sally Beamish to feature on her upcoming CD with Delphian Records. Sally, Joseph Havlat and I enjoyed a day at Menuhin Hall, recording a five-movement trio for trumpet, viola and piano, and I also recorded a short Remembrance fanfare of Sally’s for solo trumpet. I am lucky enough to have had a trumpet and piano piece written for me by Sally in 2016 (Trinculo), so it was great to work together again for this special project.

Upcoming Concerts

LSO - Asia Tour

For the past 4 weeks I have been working with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing in London and around Europe with Sir Antonio Pappano. This weekend we embark on a three-week tour to Asia, spending a week in each of Japan, South Korea and China. This will be my first time visiting these countries, so I am really looking forward to experiencing new cultures and eating lots of amazing food! The repertoire for this tour includes symphonies by Mahler, Sibelius and Saint-Saëns, and piano concerti by Chopin and Rachmaninoff with renowned soloist Yuja Wang.

Anibal Vidal Trumpet Concerto - Britten Sinfonia

I am delighted to be premiering a new trumpet concerto by Chilean composer Anibal Vidal in November. Anibal is one of three composers receiving advice and mentorship from Britten Sinfonia’s composer development scheme, ‘Magnum Opus’, and I’m so pleased that he chose to write a piece for me. The performance of this experimental concerto will be at 2pm on Saturday 2nd November at St Giles Cripplegate. Tickets are available at the link below:

MAGNUM OPUS SHOWCASE

Aurora - Firebird & Bolero (from memory)

In October I will be guest Principal Trumpet with Aurora Orchestra for concerts at the QEH, Drumsheds, Snape Maltings and on tour in Switzerland. We will perform Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite (1945 version) and Ravel’s Bolero from memory, as well as Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major and Ring of Fire and Love by Outi Tarkiainen. BBC Radio 3’s Tom Service and conductor Nicholas Collon will lead a presentation exploring the background to the Stravinsky, and the performances at Drumsheds will be an opportunity to literally step inside the ‘exploded’ orchestra!
