Recent Highlights

Leamington Music Festival

On Monday 6th May I gave a trumpet & organ recital for the Leamington Music Festival alongside my cousin, Oliver Hancock. We performed a programme of Czech music, including pieces by Dvořák, Eben, Smetana and Hummel, in the beautiful setting of All Saints Church, Leamington. LSO European Tour

I have recently returned from a 12-day tour around Europe with the London Symphony Orchestra. I was playing Principal Trumpet with the orchestra for the first time, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano in Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, Schumann’s Piano Concerto (with soloist Martha Argerich) and Barber’s Violin Concerto (with soloist Janine Jansen). Another soloist on this tour was Alison Balsom (above) who performed Wynton Marsalis’ new Trumpet Concerto. It was a brilliant trip and I’m looking forward to joining the orchestra again for a 3-week tour to Asia (Japan, Korea, China) in the Autumn.

BBC Radio 4 - Ascension Day

On Thursday 9th May I played for BBC Radio 4’s broadcast of the Ascension Day service from St Martin-in-the-Fields. This service celebrated 100 years since the first religious broadcast on the BBC (from SMITF in 1924) and includes a mixture of choral and gospel music. The whole service begins with a trumpet fanfare (at 02:30), so you won’t miss me! Click the link below to listen.

Upcoming Concerts

Septura Tour - Colombia

From 15th-20th May I will be joining leading brass ensemble Septura on a tour to Colombia. We are visiting Sincelejo, Montería and Bogotá with a programme which includes arrangements of Gershwin Three Preludes, Copland Appalachian Spring and Elgar Serenade alongside works by Finzi and Florence Price.

Trumpet & Piano Recital - Romsey

I have been invited to perform at the Romsey Chamber Music Festival on Sunday 30th June together with pianist Jennifer Walsh. We will be playing pieces by Sally Beamish, Barry Mills, Stephen Dodgson and Robert Schumann. I am also delighted to be performing the World Premiere of Charlotte Harding’s new work for solo flugelhorn, To Stay Open, generously supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation.
