Recent Highlights

Wimbledon International Music Festival

On Wednesday 5th November I gave a recital alongside pianist Patrick Milne at the Wimbledon International Music Festival. This was one of my most enjoyable concerts to date! Patrick and I played a fun and varied programme featuring works by George Gershwin, Florence Price and Peter Maxwell Davies, plus a world premiere by Peter Walton and the second performance of a work written for us by Noah Max. Photographer Matthew Johnson captured the performance and his atmospheri photos can be viewed via this link:

Broadcasts & Podcasts

On Friday 14th Nov I was featured as a guest on the BBC Radio 4 show ‘Add to Playlist’. This episode was the first in a new series and the programme covered a great variety of genres, from classical to prog rock, trip-hop and folk. I added Handel’s Messiah to the playlist and performed a few excerpts on the trumpet.

This week also saw the release of two different podcast episodes where I was interviewed about my life and career so far. You can listen to ‘Add to Playlist’, ‘Three In A Bar’ and ‘The Other Side of the Bell’ as podcasts on all major audio streaming platforms, and the latter is also available to watch on YouTube:

Win at the Classical Ivors

I was thrilled to hear that Anibal Vidal’s trumpet concerto ‘Invocación N.2: A Kintsugi Resurrection’ - written for me in 2024 - was awarded ‘Best Chamber Ensemble Composition’ at this year’s Classical Ivors. I loved giving the world premiere of this piece alongside Britten Sinfonia last November, and I hope that this win will lead to many more performances in the future. Follow the link below to read more about the piece and to hear the live premiere recording:

Trumpet & Organ - Video Releases

I’m delighted to announce the upcoming release of three recordings for trumpet and organ, featuring organist-extraordinaire (and my cousin-in-law!) Rachel Mahon. Rachel and I worked with the team from World of Sound UK (who also recorded my album) to produce videos of three different pieces:

’The Prince of Denmark’s March’ by Jeremiah Clarke
‘L’Ascension (Mvt.1')’ by Olivier Messiaen
‘Song to the Moon’ by Antonín Dvořák

These recordings were made in the stunning setting of Coventry Cathedral in July 2025, and will be released on YouTube over the next few weeks (you can subscribe to my YouTube channel for notifications of these). But for now, here’s a teaser video with sneak previews of each piece:

Final Concert Performance of 2025

On Thursday 27th November I’ll be giving my last concert performance before taking time off work to have a baby. The programme for this concert with the London Symphony Orchestra includes Ravel’s La valse & Piano Concerto in G with soloist Alice Sara Ott, Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, and Lutosławski’s brilliant Concerto for Orchestra. I feel lucky that my trumpet playing hasn’t been negatively affected by my pregnancy, so I’m really looking forward to going out on a high here! More details can be found here:

Diary Dates for 2026

I’m excited to share a couple of dates for your diaries in 2026. The first is a broadcast on BBC Radio 3 of Jess Gillam’s show ‘This Classical Life’ on Saturday 28th February (5.00pm). I loved being Jess’ guest and discussing some of my favourite music choices as well as some of her own recent discoveries.

On Monday 27th July, I will be performing alongside Patrick Milne at London’s iconic venue, Ronnie Scott’s. This is part of the brand new Classical Series in the recently-refurbished venue Upstairs at Ronnie’s, and there will be two available sittings for our recitals at 6.30pm and 9.30pm. You can find out more about the venue at the link below and I’ll be sure to update you with more info next year!
